Scaling Deep Tech Innovation Ecosystems — 1 October

Scale2Connect is running the second session in its webinar series on Thursday, 1 October, 16:00–18:00 CET, online. Where the first session looked at how research becomes a deep tech venture, this one moves further down the line: what it takes to build the ecosystem around that venture once it exists, and how to keep it growing past the point most support programmes stop paying attention.

Three speakers will lead the conversation. Olga Voropai, Academ.City lead and Assistant Professor, opens with a look at what a genuinely coordinated innovation ecosystem looks like in practice, and why having more organisations in the room doesn't automatically make an ecosystem work better. Ana Abreu, an ecosystem and entrepreneurship specialist, follows with a session on supporting scaleups once they're past early validation, a stage where many startups lose the structured support they had earlier on. Paulo Andrez, an entrepreneur and angel investor, closes with a look at the deep tech funding journey from the investor's side, including where the funding gaps actually sit and what makes a deep tech venture fundable at each stage.

The session is free and open to researchers, students, and anyone involved in supporting deep tech ventures, including prospective applicants to the Scale2Connect Accelerator, whose open call launches in October.
